Our new brand is launched – Community Services Australia

Community Services Australia has just  unveiled a new brand strategy and visual identity, that not only better encapsulates who we are and why we exist and but will make it easier for us to explain the positive impact we have in our community.

Please see below our new logo.

It is important to know that our mission, vision and values remain the same. In fact, they are more important than ever and can be reflected in our new tagline ‘We give but never give up’.  This is a brand promise that Community Services Australia has always adhered to and will continue to do so each and every day.  It is the promise we make to our clients, our funding bodies, the community and to ourselves.

The new branding helps us do a better job of telling our story, explaining the depth of our services and most importantly it will help strengthen the voice behind the way we continue to advocate for and support our clients.

Community Services Australia is in fact part of a family of organisations that for more than 30 years have been working to support and enhance the quality of life of many Australians.

Community Services Group brings together the following organisations:

  • Ability Care (Disability Services)
  • Foundations Care (Relationship, Therapeutic Services and Out-of-Home Care)
  • Flexible Living (Elderly Support and Volunteering Services)
  • Community Services Australia (Business consultancy for community based organisations)

Community Services Australia has always worked in conjunction with these other organisations, the difference now is the new branding allows us to more clearly communicate and represent who we are as a family of organisations; and with a brand promise of ‘We give but never give up,’ our clients can feel assured that as always they are in good hands.

We thank you in advance for your patience during the transition phase of our new branding and apologise in advance for any initial confusion this may cause. We invite you to visit our new website www.csau.org.au and look forward to the strength this new brand will give to our voice as we continue to support and advocate for our clients now and into the future.

Inquiry into Queenslands Child Protection System Kicks Off

With approximately 8234 children currently in the child protection system, the broadest ever review of Queensland’s child protection system has been ordered, with a 10 month commission of inquiry into child safety.

Headed by former Family Court Judge, Tim Carmody, the inquiry promises not to be held ‘behind closed doors’. The proactive and collaborative approach is most definitely a welcome one that will see parents, children, carers, peak bodies and service providers like ourselves, putting recommendations forward.

What we hope will emerge will be a road map to a more effective, efficient and supportive child protection system for Queensland.

The terms of reference ask the Commissioner to make full and careful inquiry in an open independent manner of Queensland’s child protection system, including in relation to:

  • the implementation of recommendations by the Forde Inquiry and the Crime and Misconduct Commission reports into child abuse
  • whether the current use of available resources across the child protection system is adequate and whether resources could be used more efficiently
  • the current Queensland government response to children and families in the child protection system
  • the transition of children through, and exiting the child protection system
  • the effectiveness of monitoring, investigation, oversight and complaint mechanisms and ways to improve the oversight of and public confidence in the child protection system, and
  • the adequacy of any government response and action taken by government to allegations of child sexual abuse in youth detention centres.

The Commissioner has been asked to include recommendations in his report on issues including:

  • any reforms to ensure that Queensland’s child protection system achieves the best possible outcomes to protect children and support families
  • strategies to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the child protection system, and
  • legislative reforms.

Foundations Care is committed to contributing to the important work of the Child Protection Inquiry and over the coming months will be formulating a submission paper to ensure the voices of our carers, foster children and staff are heard.

With Premier Campbell Newman quoted as saying he wanted to get behind the stats to the human stories, we thought this the perfect opportunity to gather any stories you may wish to share with us in order to strengthen our submission.
